Planning Phase
After receiving your inquiry, one of our scientific sales and application managers will contact you within one business day to review your individual project needs. A consultation by email, video conference, or telephone will be followed shortly by a quote. The project can start within one day after placing the order.
Plasmid Generation
Generation of Expression Constructs: Your target sequence(s) is cloned into the expression system/vector(s) based on what we agreed on together during the offer process. We obtain plasmid DNA containing the codon optimized DNA of the POI from client or gene synthesis of codon optimized DNA (add-on).
Small Scale Pilot Study
Prior to full-scale production, we validate the soluble expression of the target protein in E. coli and test the feasibility of successful purification. For further information on what this includes, please refer to the FAQs.
Protein Expression
The protein is expressed in shake flask culture using trenzyme´s specially composed animal component free medium. For larger scales, fed-batch fermentation in the bioreactor is also possible.
Protein Purification
Based on the results of the previous pilot study, the target protein is using a one-step or multistep process. Afterwards, the buffer will be exchanged into standard buffer or the buffer defined by the customer. The complete amount of target protein that was successfully purified during the course of the production run will be made available to the client.
Final Quality Check & Further Analytics
Before you receive your target protein, a final quality check will be performed. This includes:
- Standard final Quality Check comprises analysis by SDS-Page and assessment of final concentration and purity
- Compilation of documentation of the full production process
- Additional analytical methods as requested by the client, please refer to the FAQs to see the possible analyses.

Deliverables & Timeline
Timeline: The duration of the process largely depends on the specific cell line, its doubling rate, and the nutrient composition of the target medium (low or high nutrient content). As a result, the adaptation typically takes between 6 and 12 weeks.
